Spring London Events

It’s always a special time of year when the first few days of sunshine arrive, signalling the start of spring! In London, these seasonal changes also signal the return of highly anticipated events like the London Marathon, the Chelsea Flower Show and Chelsea in Bloom. In this blog we will take a closer look at these Spring London events and all the details you need to know.

The London Marathon

Returning on Sunday 26th April 2026, the London Marathon once again brings an incredible buzz to the city. Thousands of runners take on the famous route, cheered on by spectators lining the streets and supporting a wide range of charities.

Even if you’re not taking part, marathon day is a fantastic experience. The atmosphere is truly special — full of teamwork, excitement and encouragement. From spotting the most creative costumes to cheering runners across the finish line, there’s plenty to enjoy throughout the day.

For guests staying at The Washington Mayfair, the finish line is just a 10minute walk away from our cosy rooms and suites, making it easy to be part of the action before returning to the comfort of your hotel.

Chelsea Flower Show

The RHS Chelsea Flower Show is another highlight of London’s social calendar. Held this year from the 19th-23rd May, this world-renowned event showcases cutting-edge garden design, floral artistry, and horticultural excellence.

Tickets can be purchased now through the Royal Horticultural Society website, and booking is highly recommended due to high demand. Each year the show brings new themes and show gardens, often featuring sustainable designs, innovative planting techniques, and collaborations with designers and celebrities.

Chelsea and Belgravia in Bloom

Running alongside the Chelsea Flower Show, Chelsea in Bloom is one of London’s most charming spring events — and completely free to enjoy. Hundreds of shops, cafés and hotels come together to transform the streets with imaginative floral displays.

The 2026 theme, “Out of This World,” promises a cosmic twist, with intergalactic designs, spaceinspired installations and even a giant UFO landing on Pavilion Road. Displays begin to appear across social media as the festival unfolds, making it easy to plan your own walking route and spot your favourites along the way. Comfortable shoes are recommended, as you’ll want to explore every corner and capture plenty of photos.

The floral celebrations don’t stop there — Belgravia in Bloom also takes place during the same week, offering its own unique displays and theme for 2026: Fairytales.
